Pressing the "Back" Button to Serps Gives me Google Homepage

I don't know why but for the last couple of days I am noticing a problem with Google's search results. If I search, and then refine a search, maybe a couple of times, then visit a site from the SERP, and then press back, I don't go back to the results page... Instead I am brought to the Google homepage.

I am pretty sure this is related to the whole Google instant / AJAX / hashtag thing, and it's really really annoying.

Anyone else experiencing this?
